DAY ONE
Meals Included: Dinner
Sue-sa-day and welcome to the wonderful town of Siem Reap! On arrival at Siem Reap International Airport (airport code: REP) our team will be waiting to meet you and to transfer you in traditional style to your chosen hotel.
Once we have collected everybody and you’ve had chance to freshen up, we’ll meet up and head to a wonderful restaurant in the town to enjoy a traditional Khmer dinner and a few drinks where we’ll all get to know each other a little better.
DAY TWO
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Today begins with a group orientation where our team will run through with you more details about the daily plan and answer any questions you may have. We’ll introduce you to the culture and the customs of Cambodia and the Khmer people. Cambodia can bring on slight culture shock at the start but once you understand how this country operates and what they’ve had to overcome in recent history, you’ll fall in love with Cambodia as much as we have.
From here we’ll head out to explore the town, point out places of particular interest, and really show you underneath the skin of this buzzing little town.
This evening we’ll take a quick trip to the shore of Asia’s largest lake, Tonle Sap, and enjoy a sunset dinner aboard a boat.
DAY THREE
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Today starts early, but it’s very much worth it, as we head to the incredible temple complex at Angkor Wat. Discovered just 50 years ago, these temples were constructed over 1,000 years ago before being consumed by an eager and hungry jungle. Now one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest man-made religious buildings on the planet, it’s no wonder Angkor Wat is the winner of the number one tourist destination on the planet every year!
We’ll explore several of the very best temples before lunch and then we’ll return to our hotel where you can relax around the pool or head to one of the town’s many excellent spas to recover from your early morning.
DAY FOUR
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Following breakfast we’ll be exploring behind the scenes of Cambodia’s culture and paying a visit to a few of the local and international NGOs who dedicate their lives to helping secure a brighter future. We’ll learn more about the work they do, who they help, how they achieve their goals and their sustainability issues. This will give you an incredible insight into the town and the people and when you leave Siem Reap you’ll be experts on the culture and the customs.
This evening, as a celebration of how far you’ve come, we’re heading to the world-famous Phare Circus for dinner and to enjoy the award-winning show. Phrae Circus has produced many artists who have since gone on to appear in shows by Cirque du Soleil, amongst others.
DAY FIVE
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
When asked which was your number one highlight of your time in Siem Reap, you are genuinely going to struggle and this is one experience that will definitely be amongst the front runners.
Located around 1 hour from Siem Reap lies the new elephant sanctuary at Kulen. We’ll spend a full day here gently trekking through the forest to locate the elephants and studying them in their true, natural habitat. This is genuinely an unforgettable experience and throughout your time here you can relax in the knowledge that by being here you’re directly helping to secure a safe, happy and healthy future for these wonderful animals. Oh, and we’ll even have a picnic lunch in the jungle!
DAY SIX
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Following yesterdays incredible experience you’ll need time to recover so that you can really take in what you witnessed. So today we’ll be taking a leisurely bicycle ride through the surrounding countryside of Siem Reap. We’ll see a different side to Siem Reap as we pedal through country lanes and experience traditional life, learn about the rice paddies, sample tasty snacks and connect with the locals.
On our return to our hotel we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before we return to our hotel in time to rest up, enjoy the pool one more time and begin to pack for tomorrow.
This evening will be our final group dinner so we’ll make it one to remember and perhaps a couple of beers on the infamous Pub Street in the central town.
DAY SEVEN
Meals Included: Breakfast
Sadly, this morning will be our final breakfast so regardless of which accommodation you’ve chosen, we will all feast together. This will give us time for those final group photos, swapping contact details, hugs and hi-5’s before we all go our separate ways.
Your guide will be around to help with any onward travel you might need help planning, and of course, to ensure you’ve not forgotten your passport!
KULEN ELEPHANTS
At trunk we only support elephant and wildlife projects with genuine, achievable and sustainable goals and methods. Kulen meets every single one of those directives and we are proud to be associated with the excellent work they are doing.
Since elephant treks were outlawed around the Angkor Wat region, the work being completed here has had a major impact on how elephants are used and looked after in Cambodia and the genuine hope is that more elephant owners will retire their elephants here. In addition to the excellent care, they also hope to pioneer a successful breeding campaign to re-populate the elephant population in the Kingdom. There are so many wonderful projects taking place here and by joining you will have the opportunity to learn these first hand.
