Over 40 years of combined experience poured in to every tour we operate! We specialize in engineering and operating adventure tours in Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and India. To learn more about our locations, check this out!
Originally a behind-the-scenes tour operator, trunk has grown into a full-blown, front-of-house experiential, life-changing travel colossus. Trunk has operated programs for over 10,000 travelers in the last 4 years.
The team at trunk have each served long apprenticeships in travel around Asia, creating, operating and improving tours for some very well known global brands. We’ve worked with travelers from 6 to 90 years old. We know what’s expected, we know how to deliver and we’re experts in going the extra mile to make the impossible, possible.
We’re so good in fact, that our incredible team of guides have won awards for their services, through our partnering companies. Moreover, we’ve been awarded Tour of the Year, not once, but twice as voted for by our travelers! Wouldn’t you rather travel with an operator, awarded for their quality, by those who’ve actually experienced it first hand?
So whenever you sign up to travel on a tour operated by Trunk, you know you’re in the safest, most professional hands in the industry. Why not get in touch today to find out more about what trunk can do for you.
No Riding Policy
As part of the trunk ethos, we’d like to note that since 2013 we have strictly enforced a ‘No Riding Elephants’ policy. We are proud to be one of the first operators in Thailand to have done so.
We refuse to work with, or assist in any way, any elephant locations that refuse to adopt this policy. But to clarify, and in the interests of full disclosure, it’s actually not harmful for a human to ride bareback on an elephant, however, the current training methods applied to make an elephant compliant in this activity are extremely harmful.
These methods are ones which we do not support and therefore we firmly stand by our
No Riding Policy as well as other policies that assist in supporting this change within the travel industry.
To compound our service to support captive and rescued elephants in both Thailand and India. We are extremely proud to be working daily to meet Travelife’s strict policies to become associated with this excellent organization. We are engaged with the Travelife certification program and we have started the process to work step by step towards complying with its international sustainability standards. Travelife is a three-stage certification program for tour operators and travel agents: (1) Travelife Engaged; (2) Travelife Partner and (3) Travelife Certified. We are currently at stage 1 and our aim is to be Travelife certified as quickly as possible.
We have worked very closely with Travelife over the last and in addition to helping audit elephant camps and sanctuaries in Thailand, have helped shape the charter that we genuinely hope will soon shape elephants in tourism in Asia, and the rest of the world.
How We Help the Elephants
In addition to your donation*, trunk also donates $5 for every booking we receive.
*We want to make this clear from the outset as this is always a contentious subject; when you pay your fee to join one of our tours in any of the countries we operate, a percentage of that fee is used to cover the costs of taking care of the elephants that you get directly involved with. That cost covers a multitude of things including your accommodation at the project, your transport and meals, the guides and so on. But a large chunk of that fee is also donated directly to the project to support their ongoing and long-lasting care for the elephants. This includes visits from the vets, a healthy and sustainable natural diet, an income for the elephants owners and to ensure the elephants safety and more.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
At trunk we’re big fans of planet Earth! We believe simple changes to daily routines can make a major impact in the long-term progress for a positive future of our planet. Travelers on all trunk tours are subtly introduced to the eco-friendly ways of the locals and communities they’re visiting, and are encouraged to play a part in effective sustainability of these methods.
Recycling, reducing waste, reusing items are three simple yet highly effective ways that every one of us can make a difference. Trunk works with local communities and authorities to ensure that our methods meet up with what’s being actively encouraged. Every single tour we operate is designed with a mindfulness for positive change, aiming to better the planet that we call home.
